For all our dear shoe lovers out there, you might have tried many brands of shoes which some really fits your style and give you comfort. But here’s another brand that might catch your interest, especially that they have new designs.
Figlia, which is conceptualized with the refined and dignified woman in mind, carries shoes that are unpretentiously chic, just right for someone who prefers subtle and simple designs. And what do you know, Figlia feels your fancy. Apart from comfort, the leading shoe brand fulfills your footwear wish through its special shoe designs.
After almost four months of rigorous search for the best and most unique shoe designs, the winners of the first-ever “My Beautiful Sole” shoe design contest were finally announced.
The grand prize went to Sheila de Jesus, with her entry “Sinfully Black.” Sheila won two brand new Wacom Intuos tablet PCs for herself and her mentor, a Starcard membership, and P3,000 worth of Figlia gift certificates.
First runner-up honors went to the entry “Amasia” by Rochelle Mari Bernabe, which won for her P2,000 worth of Figlia gift certificates, a pair of Figlia shoes and a Starcard membership, while Paul Lester Dellosa’s “Oblivion” was tagged second runner-up and won P1,000 worth of Figlia gift certificates, a pair of Figlia shoes and a Starcard membership.
Third runner up was Pamela Pabayuan (“My Heart and Sole”) and fourth runner up was Joshua John Galayco Garcia (“Gold”). Each won P1,000 worth of Figlia gift certificates and a Starcard membership.
Charter International Inc., makers of successful Filipino shoe brands like Figlia, Shubizz, Figliarina, Barbie by Shubizz, Sorores and M. Nicole, launched “My Beautiful Sole” last October 2013 and received an enormous response from local shoe designers. The contest also showcased the shoe-design skills of Filipinos—from the simple to the eccentric—by creating a prototype of what they envision their respective shoes would look like.
Joey Enriquez, President of Charter International Inc. and Chairman of the Board of judges, says he was very satisfied with the contest’s turnout. “This was the first time that Figlia did a shoe-design contest, and I’m very happy with the number of entries. It was difficult for the judges to pick a winner. Every entry was different, but we were very impressed with the amount of detailing the designers put into their shoe designs.”
Other members of the judging panel were also ecstatic about the shoe designs. Model-actress, VJ and TV host Janeena Chan says she had a difficult time choosing the winner but she enjoyed it, while comic illustrator-artist-vocalist Rommel Calaspara adds that the efforts of the contestants were really impressive.
Flushed with success, Enriquez plans to hire some of the winners and give them their break. “Some are too avant-garde, though, and we’ll tweak their designs for them to become wearable. We will get inspirations from their detailing and incorporate them into our existing designs.”
Yet the design element of the amateur shoe designers has to be elevated by producing wearable versions of the entries, Enriquez adds. “You can see that their detailing is really well-thought out. We own the prototypes to the designs, and should Figlia adapt the contestants’ designs, we will give royalties to the original designers.”
